On May 18, 2023, the DAAD Information Center Taipei, in cooperation with the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), is organizing a Falling Walls Lab in Taiwan. Falling Walls Labs are popular science slams that are held worldwide for students, young professionals, entrepreneurs, and (young) scientists to present their innovation ideas and research projects in 3-minute lectures. Please help us to promote this activity and encourage young scholars to participate! The winner of the Falling Walls Lab Taipei will represent Taiwan in the global finals in November and will be given the opportunity to attend the Falling Walls Conference, which takes place annually in November to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall. The travel expenses for participating in the finals will be borne by the DAAD. There is also the opportunity to join the Innovation Week organized by the DAAD and renowned German universities of the TU9 association. The TU Darmstadt is also inviting the Taiwanese winner to a visit. The winners of the final will give a speech on the stage of the Falling Walls conference and receive prize money. The official Credit Fee Payment Receipt also can be printed from the above address link. The printed copy is as valid as the paper receipt. The deadline for the payment of credit fees for the spring semester of 2022 is November 25, 2022 (Friday). Students must make the payment according to the methods stated on the payment slip before the above-mentioned date. The bank may no longer process the payment after the above-mentioned date. And late payments will be dealt with according to article 19. Article 19 Master and Ph.D. students taking master/doctoral/undergraduate courses and undergraduate students taking courses that require course fees are all required to pay credit fees according to the tuition and fee schedules provided by the units offering courses for the corresponding degrees. Undergraduate students who have their graduation deferred in order to supplement or make up a course shall pay credit fees at the standard rate charged for undergraduate courses by the unit offering the course. Undergraduate students shall pay credit fees if they take retake already-passed courses for the third time or more. All students of the University are required to pay fees for using computer and network communication facilities. Students who use the language and audiovisual facilities in the Foreign Language Center shall pay the language learning equipment fee. Students will be given a grade of zero during course assessment if they fail to pay the fees above within the given deadline. Students who have been approved to make retroactive payments before the suspension of study deadline of the current semester should be charged late fees in addition to the original fees. Late fees are calculated according to the number of days past due. It is calculated as 1% of the original fee for every two days past due, up to a maximum of 15% of the original fee and less than NT$2,000. Students can make the payment by cash with the Tuition Fee Payment Slip at any branch of First Commercial Bank in Taiwan. The matters are conducted pursuant to the National Chengchi University Short-Term Overseas Studies Subsidy Guidelines and the Implementation Details. Eligibility: The applicant shall be a student officially enrolled in the National Chengchi University (hereafter referred to as the “NCCU”). ROC nationals and applicants who have household registration in the ROC shall have priority in the application for the subsidy. The applicant's foreign language proficiency shall meet the National Chengchi University Language Requirements for Applying for Short-Term Overseas Studies Subsidy. Students with outstanding academic performance (undergraduate students’average grade should rank within top 30% in class) are eligible to apply. Only students who have been nominated by the Office of International Cooperation (hereafter referred to as the “OIC”) or their respective colleges or departments for the exchange program, or those who applied to overseas universities by themselves and have been granted the admission for Spring Semester 2023 (February to July 2023) may apply for the subsidy. Application Period: from October 12 to 5pm, November 9, 2022. Students receiving the subsidy shall take and pass a minimum of six (6) credits (or 12 ECTS, European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) each semester (or academic quarter) during the study abroad period. They shall still be enrolled in NCCU during that time and pay tuition to NCCU. Procedures and regulations for course selection abroad and credit transfer can be found on the Office of Academic Affairs’website. Relevant processes shall be completed at the student's department or graduate school prior to the departure. As Covid-19 pandemic has not been alleviated globally, the subsidy does not provide financial subsidies if the country where the student intends to enroll does not open its borders and changes to remote online teaching. Subsidy recipients who are concurrently awarded the financial aid for studying abroad from the Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) government or the University shall receive reduced amount of the subsidy, or not be subsidized.
